Many biologists now know that genes aren't selfish (and Dawkins has become something of an embarrassment). Lamarck's theories of evolution - which pre-date Darwin- are firmly back on the table being now called epigenetics. The Genome project, though brilliant hasn't produced much in the way of benefits.
Still no one has been able to even begin to suggest how consciousness could have emerged from unconscious matter and we still know intuitively that everything we value in our lives; our loves of our partners and children remains inexplicable, and doesn't stem from reciprocal altruism.
Should we not try to re-locate to the world which was dislocated by the Enlightenment's separation of matter and soul and does man live, 'not by bread alone'?

n. tell me which one, if it's about dualism, I think I've already answered that
Khandro, okay, let’s start with this one. What do you think you have that others who, in your estimation, need to re-locate, are lacking?
Question Author
n. I'll answer your question by reversing it; what they have and I don't, is the certainty - based on 18th and 19th century Enlightenment - that the universe holds no mysteries that cannot be accommodated by material reductionism.
So you have uncertainty and you want them to 're-locate' to that? Why?
Question Author
I don't want anybody to do anything, but merely suggesting that there is more in the universe than matter.
You asked 'should we not try to re-locate'. What difference do you think it would make if we did that?

We might consign false gurus to the dustbin of history, pseudo scientists, who tell the gullible that life began by a happy chemical accident and that their genes are selfish. Do you get the idea?
I get the idea but I think you’ve lost the plot. You tell me you have uncertainty and yet you’re certain that random gurus and scientists who are far from ‘pseudo’ should be consigned to the dustbin. You’re a very confused man, Khandro, but that aside, if your wish were granted what difference do you think that would make to humanity?
