Cleaner (even)
I used to buy 'gold dip' from the jewellers, which worked well. Just found 'gold and diamond jewellery dip' in Waitrose which works just as well and is cheaper.

Thanks Margo, just picked up an Item from the Jewellers yesterday, the Item looked like new I should have asked him.
TWR - I also find that washing jewellery in washing up liquid works and my dear old Mum always used to put her engagement ring in an eggcup with a drop of gin!
PS, I know this because my other half worked in the jewellery trade for many years.

Thank you Daffy, I was just looking on ebay, there's a few on there x
Vodka also works well
I can't afford an ultra-sonic cleaner, so I simulate one by placing a beater into my 18v drill and stirring up the cleansing solution in the container containing the parts that I am cleaning.
I clean old gold silver and pewter items by first soaking in rubbing alcohol (why waste gin!) then running under hot water then soaking in hot water with washing up liquid in,cleaning with an old toothbrush and finally drying with a lint free cloth -j cloths are good.
Retrochic and TWR, these are excellent products for cleaning...And they're made in England!
I should ad that they are good for gold cleaning also.
nothing better to do with your vodka, slappy?
Whisky drinker mate, unless it's very good Russian stuff, would touch the cheapo nasty stuff

Thank you Stuey.
Toothpaste (add a little warm water) and a soft old toothbrush will do an excellent job… Rinse thoroughly with warm water, of course...
I've always cleaned my gold chains and bracelets with soap, water and a nailbrush.
Soak in wifeys Denture cleaning tablets - lol
Warm water dishwashing liquid and a splash of ammonia.
