This is the punishment if someone is sincere in stopping all this.

The threatened punishment, like all punishments, is there to deter and control the many, some always think they can get away with it.
//We Always Talk About Rape//

Actually, that's not "strictly" true. We sometimes talk about what we're having for dinner, or jeans, or the Paralympics.
Oh, I hadn't heard that Jno, jolly good luck we hadn't already offed his head then as you say.
...and breakfast Jayne we sometimes talk about breakfast- I'm having gammon on toast with barbeque glaze topped with a poached egg and melted cheese:)
Wow, NOX ... that's a good breakfast. I made do with coffee and cereal.
actually, there is discussion on AB about the death penalty from time to time, esepcially for paedophiles (though some people think it would be better to keep them alive and torture them). And some the other day said it would teach burglars a lesson too. I say No to all of this.
incidentally, that Assange story I linked to turns out to be years out of date. I don't know why it came up when I clicked on the BBC site this morning. Sorry to have been misleading.
@JNO

I am probably being dense, but were you being ironic re Assanges arrest warrant, or did you miss the date of that report? (August 2010)

"Nox, if you're still about, have you noticed that Assange isn't suspected of rape any more?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/...world-europe-11049316

All a mistake. Just as well Hague hadn't got around to beheading him."

So an arrest warrant was dropped in August 2010, but was subsequently reissued November 2010 following a re-opened investigation, and is still in force.....

sorry, LazyGun, I just spotted that and apologised.
Ahh Ok JNO, that explains it :)

I was caught out myself by the same story initially, incidentally - the story you originally linked to was in the top 10 most read stories on the BBC News website. It has happened to me before though, so now I make a point of checking the date of the story... ;)
// Mike, no need to be rude again - I've been here for an hour or so. //

He's probably just going for the new 'Stalker' badge Naomi. 30 or more random insults against someone who happened to disagree with you on some thread a long time ago.
Execution is never punishment, it is always revenge.

To try and justify exectution as a deterrent is constantly proved to be nonsense, the statistics simply do not bear out the notion.

It is simple human nature to believe that any illegal act is not going to be detected and punished - and that oincludes everyting from riding a bike without lights to murdering your entire family.

Execution is designed to make people feel better because the criminal (assuming they were convicted correctly, which is no means a given) has been given the ultimate punishment for their crime.

The idea that such a fate will prevent anyone else committing a similar offence is clearly not to be believed - who on earth wants to go to prison for any time at all, much less lose their life? So prison and capital punishment as deterants clearly fail - but only one of those is prone to completely irreversable error - as has been proved over time.

Booo - ////Hardly seems to be a deterrent though does it considering there
were 52 other beheadings for rape before him this year alone?////

First of all 52 including others crimes too. Do you know how many women are raped every day only in USA?

Eddie – How did I know that you would say exactly that? Because you always do. Perhaps that was one of the reason I posted this where a “man” has been executed. The link you gave is a different story and we have talked about that so many times before. But I have no problem in repeating it all if anyone is interested.

NOX – You do not like capital punishment and so does your “liberal” Muslims friend, and that’s fine. I hope nothing bad happens to you, your liberal Muslim friend and your families like rape, murder etc. However if it does happen only then I would like to ask you if you would say the same. And I really doubt that you would stick to your words.

Joggerjayne – No law in the world stops 100% people from committing a crime and that is commonly known thing.
How very presumptious of you Keyplus to assume ' nothing bad has ever happened to me'. When I was young I was brutally and repeatedly physically abused to such an extent that I have a permanent brain injury- would it have helped me if my father had been executed? No it would have made it all worse. My best friend was murdered in a sectarian killing in NI when I was much younger and I know countless people who have been victims of similar violence- so killing his killer will make it better will it? No it will just add another body to the pile. My wife made a documentary about violence against prostitutes in London and became friends with some of the women concerned, but that does not mean it's right when a man rapes them to take his life judicially, we must find other ways to stop such hate crimes.
Violence against the person is caused through lack of respect for that person, you don't cure that by cheapening life by indulging in judicial murder.
As you might see I have not had a rosey life so kindly don't presume I have to back up your own bloodthirsty ethics. Thanks.
I think Keyplus is right in saying "It's not deterring everyone" isn't a sufficient argument. No known law has ever deterred everyone; we hope that they deter a lot of them.

What would be more likely to deter thieves - cutting off their hands, or abandoning the laws because "they're not deterring thieves"? Those aren't the only alternatives, fortunately, but it's worthy of discussion.
Keyplus, what do you feel about the application of
'Justice' in S.Arabia. I mean if your from the servant
class(generally foreign,I believe)you will indeed get
a hand chopped off for stealing, let's say a loaf of
bread. Whereas if you happen to be Prince This or
Sheikh That you can (&invariably do) steal millions
with impunity.Doubtless the same applies to capital crimes.
jno - trying to prop up a failing punishment system because it is apparently all we have is really not a basis for a civilised society.

As I have banged on many many times before - education is the way out of society's problems. Invest in a decent nursery education system and teach babies and toddlers the notion of self-respect and caring for others, and in one generation, you will see an improvement.

But that takes money, and it's not a vote-catcher, so no chance.
Just as well they don't chop of your head for lying then...keyplus.
It's true the sentence of the court didn't stop him. But he won't do it again.
Bet my last penny that if keyplus ever gets into serious trouble he will opt for a british law court rather than his Sharia courts which we have in the uk.
Does anyone remember the Saudi Prince who beat his servant/gay lover to death in a London hotel? Did he try to be returned to face trial in a Sharia court in Saudi Arabia?
