This is the punishment if someone is sincere in stopping all this.

I thought he did?
No. He was happy enough to accept the decadent justice meted out by UK courts. When he's released from prison he'll probably claim asylum as it won't be safe for him to return to his homeland.

How did he ever get convicted, I thought that 4 witnesses were needed to convict a rapist. Now the crime of "being raped" is much more common. Perhaps you can help me with some of the legal deatils here.
Covenient. Reminds me of the old Not The Nine O'Clock News sketch about Britain's poor justice system allowing rich Arabs to "Come over here, screw and get p1ssed".
He won't be safe sandy, not because of the rape but for his sexual orientation. But he belongs to the most powerful family in Saudi so he would probably get away with it - get married etc.,

It's true the sentence of the court didn't stop him. But he won't do it again.

Wouldn't the chopping off of his other head (the offending member . . . as well as the one he was obviously thinking with at the time) have achieved the same result?
Couldn't they just make him incapable in some way - like cutting off his unmentionables or something. Or would that be considered cruel and heartless? I'm all for it myself (chuckles cruelly and heartlessly while sharpening the nearest Stanley knife).
Ludwig, //He's probably just going for the new 'Stalker' badge Naomi. //

Haaaa! How funny!

Keyplus, first you say //This is the punishment if someone is sincere in stopping all this.//

…. and then you say:

//No law in the world stops 100% people from committing a crime and that is commonly known thing.//

You’re contradicting yourself.
MIBN, yes, just lopping off other parts of his anatomy would have stopped him. It would also have made him a suitable candidate for employment in the king's harem.
But public executions serve twp purposes. The first is to carry out the sentence of the court. The second, and probably the more important in the eyes of the Saudi authorities, is to show the dreadful authority of the state.
no contradiction there, naomi. No penalty is ever 100% successful, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't find the one that works best.
I beg to differ jno. 'Stopping all this' means stopping it. This penalty does not stop it.

I suppose you know that the holy bible of the jews and christians say a woman who was raped must be killed, because it was her fault ?

She only gets off if the crime occurred in a country area where nobody was around to hear her scream.
Read the bibile and see I'm right.
Chapter and verse of the Bible would be appreciated before I make any further comment. I do not rush in where angels fear to tread &c.
billandhiscats - of course you are absolutely right.

If a few innocent people are killed so the majority can be executed, than that's just what the Americans call 'collatoral damage'.

I thank anything that you are never ever going to be in a position where you cold-hearted soul will be in a position to influence anything, ever, that affects the society in which you live.

Well said JNO but don’t forget that it is common sense and Naomi lacks that.

Billandhiscats . Nicely put it but unfortunately this matter has nothing to do with death penalty alone. It is to do death penalty according to Islamic law and that is the main issue for few people here. For that reason Islam does not believe in imprisonment. Because when you put people in the prison they become more sophisticated and educated criminals and it was recently in the paper that rehabilitation does not work at all. Then five star prisons cost a lot and people who suffer are usually the family of the criminals because they have to cope with it sometimes without a father or a bread winner. Apart from capital punishment for a handful serious crimes Islam believes in quick fire lashes that really hurt at a public place to humiliate the criminal and within day or two he is free to get on with his life with few serious scars on the back for rest of the life. Finally don’t forget that in Islam door of forgiveness is always open only if the victim (or the relatives in case of murder) decides to forgive.

He could be David Cameron for all you know.
It's funny how the 'short sharp shock' theory of dealing with criminals transcends religious and cultural boundaries.

Attacking the messenger is never a valid response - but nevertheless it is your only response. Sadly you are unable, as always, to argue the argument. As for what Islam believes, your intellect is stuck in the Dark Ages, but since you're here, life in the west must be preferable to you. That is simple logic - and it says it all.

Andy-Hughes, the first bit I understood - but the second ....what?

Atalanta, the bible certainly condones rape in some instances, but I too would like chapter and verse to support your claims.
Ludwig, did you understand that? I didn't. What's he talking about?
