As far as I know, according to most religions, everything we see was created by god and we as people were created in his image. It stands to reason that we are therefore the most important beings on earth.

What would be the scenario if there was another race found on another planet who looked nothing like us but were as self aware and intelligent as us? Would they be inferior to us, much like dogs and cats or would they also be able to get into heaven so long as they believed in our gods?

You cannot apply logical reasoning to religious beliefs. Believing in some sort of omnipotent being, it could be argued, does itself, discard any attempt at logical reasoning.
yes, according to the vatican chief astronomer and papal science adviser gabriel funes.

I've often wondered if Jesus did the rounds, offering salvation and being murdered over and over again - and whether, in order to spread the word, Mohammed went much further than Jerusalem during his night flight.
Being a Muslim I believe in life on other planets because of a 1400 years old book when scientists are still thinking about it. What sort of life? We do not know but it would not be more intelligent than human.
Hi keyplus,
I had no idea that a 1400 year old book has information about extraterrestrial life forms and their levels of intelligence. Is there anything else we should know. Apart from all the usual stuff, that is.
Keyplus, if you take the trouble to look you'll find documents much older than the Koran talking about life on other planets. Where do you think Mohammed got his ideas from?

//We do not know but it would not be more intelligent than human. //

The first half that statement is correct. We do not know. The other bit contradicts that completely.
"I've often wondered if Jesus did the rounds ..."

That's an amusing notion.

"Our Lord and Saviour" arrives at the next planet, to help save the next civilization, thinking ... "Oh, crap, here we go again!"
John 14:2 'In my father's house there are many mansions.'
Clearly shows that God bestowed his blessings on creatures all over the cosmos.
Jayne, exactly. :o)
"Oh Sugar, Dad, do I have to be crucified again? Though that Mary Magdalene, she is a bit of hot totty..."
God must be an alien coz it's not human and it wasn't born on our planet. So anyone who belives in God must be beliving in something extra terrestrial to start with
People who have religious beleifs do not apply sceintific criteria to authenticate their faith - so by the same token they should probably beleive in ETs, toothfairys , the Loch Ness monster etc.
Isn't 'god' extraterrestrial?
Jomifl - That 1400 years old book talks about many things apart from usual what you see in the media and on this and many other websites. If you are really serious to know then buy one and read. I would mind giving you one as a gift but here on this website no one knows who we are and where we are. However there are many translations (unless you know Arabic) Yusuf Ali's is the best.

Naomi - Didn't I say that before that there were prophets before Muhammad (pbuh) and therefore there were messages too. But most of those messages have been corrupted now. But most of the people quote Greeks so obviously they had some sort of religious influence from previous prophets. But either way they were nothing more than philosophical assumptions whereas Quran says things as authority and it’s there to stay. Whereas Greeks record all disappeared during so called “dark ages” and what people know today was preserved by Muslims in Spain and Iraq centuries ago. Perhaps you need to read a little bit of history too.
Sorry mistake - I would "not" mind giving you one as a......
Sandyroe...but a couple of verses further on 'No man cometh to the Father but by Me'. I've never been able to explain that particular contradiction.
Keyplus, yes, you did say that before. You said all the prophets of the bible, including Jesus, were Muslims - only they didn't know they were Muslims. They thought they were Jews. That's right, isn't it?

It is abundantly evident to anyone who has a little knowledge of antiquity, and who cares to read the Koran, that Mohammed hijacked the men of the bible along with the theology, the work - and the mistakes - of earlier civilisations. The Koran contains no authority - unless you choose to allow it to wield authority over you - as you do. What happened to that once proud and intelligent people you speak of? You, Keyplus, do Islam no favours. You've chosen to remove yourself physically from a land that embraces a culture that continues relentlessly to embrace the Dark Ages you speak of, but nevertheless you insist on bringing that same culture with you into the 21st century - and encouraging others to take the same backward path that you take.

Oh, and incidentally, as you are very well aware, I know my history.

Now, we know your literature is wrong - we've proven it many times - so why don't we talk about something more interesting? Going anywhere nice for Christmas - or are you staying around here to take part in the annual panto?
tearinghair, that's something the Christians invented in order to entice others into Christianity. It's a threat. Quite simply, believe the way I tell you to believe - or it's curtains for you!!
Tearinghair, it surely means that The Incarnation is not only of this world. Throughout the cosmos the Son of God will take on the form of whatever creatures need the redeeming grace of The Son of God.
