Can any HK resident tell me if the large colonial style buildings on Stonecutters Island (/point?) are still there? I used to live on Stonecutters when I was a child (late '80s, early '90s) and would like to know whether my old house is still standing! It was on the side of stonecutters facing Hong Kong Island, and the lower of two identical sand-coloured houses visable at the top of a hill on the non-reclaimed part of the Island (side nearest yamatei typhoon shelter etc, to the right as you look at it from Hong kong island). I would like to know either way if it's survived, as it's impossible to find this info on the web!

Any info very gratefully received

STONECUTTERS ISLAND, HONG KONG - Hi, You would be pleased to know that all the buildings for the past 100 years remain intact at stonecutters island.

I would be pleased to tell you about the buildings. There are several blocks there. I am not sure if you are referring to the one on a small hill with a grass yard at the front and entrance at the middle of the block. I have taken pictures of most of the buildings (not sure if I still have those photos) taken on recent open days. Those are beautiful buildings and I can understand why you would want to reminiscent a bit about it. Meanwhile, you can take a look at this photo to see if you can identify it. http://files.blog-city.com/files/aa/45711/p/f/stone_cutter_island.jpg

Thank you.
