I've seenone site listing 52,199,262 deaths in WWII, (20,600,000 of them in the Soviet Union - 10.4% of the pre-war population). May 8, 1945 was Victory in Europe Day, one day after the unconditional surrender of all German forces. On September 2, 1945 Japan surrendered. There were surely deaths on those days and therafter.

However, the last formal surrender of World War Two took place on June 30 1951 on the island of Anatahan in the Northern Marianas. Eleven members of their group had died since the end of the war, six of them died violently, if not necessarily at the hands of enemy forces -- they were by that stage fighting among themselves.
