Gordon Brown turned up as a spectator to watch his wife giving birth yesterday. Am I alone in thinking this to be a disgusting thing for a man to do?

SFT42 - it's like Bruce Springsteen gig - you have to be there to understand what the experience is all about.
Hello, Andy. Relative to Gordon Brown, is this not all a bit odd? He was very powerful within a small group of people who sent our men to occupy Basra, seemingly for nothing at all. 50 of our young men have consequently met a premature and dreadful death. 50 families very sadly bereaved. In view of this, and from all that is written here, given that there is such great joy in watching birth was Gordon Brown disgustingly self indulgent in keeping this joy only to himself and not inviting all relatives of the 50 dead to watch Sarah giving birth?
Hello again AnnaBa - I don't think you are seriously suggesting that Gordon brown's role in a Goverment deicison should in any way detract from his personal joy as an individual? I don't imagine Churchill invited the widows and families of World War 2 dead to his childrens' births? You must know that your argument is heavy on emotion, and light on logic. I repeat - Gordon Brown happens to be a politican, which makes him a public figure, and of interest to some people in the general public. he did not ask for any interest or comment on his recent happy event,. and to castigate him in these terms is illogical, and emotive, and finally unfair. If you don't agree with the pleasure he feels at his child's arrival, that's fine, but it does not equate with any guilt he may feeel at the deaths of British soldiers.
"AnnaBa" is an anagram of "banana" and I know which one has the most brain cells!!!

Hey Gef - we don't do insults here - be nice or be elsewhere.
Although most will disagree i have none of my own but I went in with my friend when she had her little girl and it was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen in my life.It is the best form od contraception you can get they should let all these young girls hat accidently get pregnant watch. After watching it as well I have also decided that when I have kids my partner will def not be in there he can wait outside
Sorry Andy I have a lot less patience than you. Your answers are spot on but I just can't agree with or take AnnaBa's answers seriously.
No parent, or witness of a birth would pretend it is anything other than brutal, painful, and bloody, but the miracle of the result is what matters. We are all programmed to forget pain, and remember pleasure, otherwise any mother would only have one child. It looks like the two camps will have to agree to differ on this, but it's been an interesting exchange of views, which is what the AB is all abot.
