Having just spent the day travelling to and from Sunderland for my Grandmothers funeral, I have come to the conclusion that all funerals are horrendous occasions. I have been to three this year: a work colleague, a very dear friend and now my grandmother. I dreaded attending them because I simply wanted to remember them all as they were in life, and funerals leave me feeling terribly depressed.....which is not how I would want my family to feel when I die. So, if you could choose, how would you like people to 'send you off'?

I just held a wake for my uncle - 60 people for 7 hours, to be sure. I'd like the same kind of thing, but no funeral service and, as my coffin leaves the wake, everybody chiming in with "Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye, Cheerio, Here I go, On my way....".

To gather as many good guitarists as possible on the shores of loch lomond playing a great riff altogether, say something like Led Zep, and then have my ashes shot out into the loch.

Not that that's likely to happen but what the heck i'll take them playing John Prine's "Please Don't Bury Me" instead....

I'd like to be frozen the bough back in about 100 years time that would be well good obv that wouldn't be possible so i'll just settle to be frozen
Get my surviving relatives to hire a load of transit vans and go round london and gather as many tramps and homeless and take them to a big hall and then get all my firends and family to come and have a big knees up with loads of free beer and food.
sft42: Definately yours, I would have the Rain Song (The Song Remains the Same, video version) rather than the regular one. But I also like gilf's altruistic idea....Hell I'll do 'em both.
Well Katejess, my little possum. You will have to scatter my ashes on the pitch at Old Trafford to the sound of Black Rose by Thin Lizzy. See you in the morning ;-D
Don't care. Funerals are for the living, not the dead. Whatever my loved ones want to do is alright by me. Although actual physical-wise I am donating as much as I can for transplant and then they can cremate the rest (there is not gonna be that much left, hopefully!)

Andy

Not sure how it works at old trafford but at Arsenal they have a special chamber specially to receive the ashes of Arsenal fans next to the edge of the north stand, as it does something funny to the pitch.
