Being a south london lad, we always pronounced Samuel Pepys' surname as 'Peppies' my wife insists its Peeps. We had Pepys Road, Park & even Pepys House @ my school. Who's right - or do I need to get out more?

My Dad was a South London boy too, and went to Samuel Pepys School from 1957-1961 and it is definitely pronounced 'Peeps'. Looks like Mrs. Paulz's got it right!
there was a programme on the history channel a few months back and they pronounced the surname as peeps
Do you live in the borough of Greenwich Paulz, as I used to and that has a Pepys (pronounced Peeps) Road.
