My sister has - caught up with a girlfriend from school days that was thought of as the least likely person to ever achieve more than tying her own shoe laces, and found that the friend is now serving as a captain on longhaul passenger jets. (hasn't yet established how she got the qualifications, but my sister is really worried about flying now....)

Yeah - I met up with someone I went to school with 20 odd years after we left school. We were living within 30 miles of each other in Devon though our school was in Lancashire.
One of my workmates me a girl he went to school with, left his wife, and now commutes from London to Scotland every weekend to be with her.
Yep yep a long lost friend, I found him again and we are good friends again.
I am in touch with my first ever Girlfriend, I haven't seen her for 40 years, the daft thing is we were then in London, and now she is in Liverpool and I am about 50 miles away in North Wales, It is great to know how peoples lives have turned out
No, I've no interest in people now who I had little interest in when I left school 16 years ago.

Anybody who was worth knowing back then I would have kept in contact with.

I'm in touch with a handful of people. Met up with one guy who I had a huge crush on at school. Figured he wouldn't be anything special by now, but I felt so guilty that I was meeting him, although it was totally innocent, that I went out with my then boyfriend the night before and got absolutely wasted.

Met up with my old school friend the next morning, who turned out to be about 20 times better looking than he was at school, with me reeking of alcohol with the DT's. So I'm sure it's gone round half the old school friends that 'englishbird's' turned into an alcoholic!

I left secondary schooling in 1950 and am absolutely astonished at the recognisable names listed for my year. I have contacted a few (about eight) not with any intention of meeting up (which I think would possibly be a bad idea), but like most people just being nosey about what we've all been up to over the past fifty six years and, silent thanks to the NHS that so many are still around and kicking !!!
