Where did everyone go for New Years Eve? Does anyone else find that it always turns out not as good as you expected?

Stayed in, that was as good as expected!
Stayed in with abottle of champagne and a film to watch until around 11.30 when we watched bbc1 and the eventual fireworkdisplay.Magic all of it.
Stayed in. Watched Christmas Lights at 9pm, enjoyed that. Then waited for the new year to come in. Nothing special but relaxing.
i always find new years eve depressing so i stayed in and watched 'northern lights' , had a pizza and went to bed before midnight ! it was lovely !
I stopped going out at Christmas and new years eve when I was about thirty, I found that having to wait half an hour to get served in the pub, taxis impossible to get, buses not running after 6pm just not worth it.

Last night I watched a couple of films on sky T.V. had 10 cans of guinness and a supper of barbecued spare ribs and a char sui with fried rice from the local chinese.

You can keep new years eve, and believe it or not I am not an old misery I just find the whole thing an absolute bore.

Had a bit of a get together at my sisters and had a blinder! I resent having to pay 10 to get in my local that I pump with money all year round

We stayed in, as we usually do. Polished off quite a bit of wine and cooked some nibbles for us all. We let the kids stay up till midnight, sadly our 2 yr old fell alseep 20mins to midnight so missed it all lol but our 7yr old managed it and just loved watching the fireworks, they were very impressive. Must admit found it very hard to stay awake!! Good night tho.

I'm old enough to have done the elaborate New Year's Eve parties at glamourous night spots, as well as private blow-outs at friends' homes. This year my husband I and met my two brothers at my parents' house. We set out a nice buffet of cold cuts and cheeses, the champagne flowed, and we had a lot of fun and laughs. At midnight we went outside and shot off some fireworks (illegal in Michigan, Hubby and I had bought them in South Carolina on our way home from Georgia). All in all, it was probably low-key for most, but exciting enough for us.

Here's to a fab 2006 for all my fellow ABers!
