Doesn't say how old Grimm is in the link but American police dogs are usually retired at around 9 years old - having served an average of 8 years. Grimm has served 7 so maybe he started a tad late?
At least he gets to spend his retirement in a loving home. Prior to Bill Clinton's intervention, police dogs were often euthanised once their 'active duty' days were over:-(
