I'm generally a supporter of Ryan air, going with the view that their extra charges are all avoidable. However this is definately a new level in exploitation!

ermmm - what is?
"going with the view that their extra charges are all avoidable."
That's a bit like saying that the mines in a minefield are avoidable.

If you try to book online, the process is so convoluted that it's pretty obviously designed deliberately to trip you up, so that they can then rip you off.

I always fly EasyJet. It may cost a little more in theory, but at least I know exactly what the cost is, and I don't get the impression that I'm dealing with the enemy.
They'll be charging for emotional baggage next.
Certainly is. How did they arrive at £70 ? Why not £100 or £30 ? It must be questionable on the basis that it's an unfair contract term, but nobody imagines that Ryanair's boss will care. He'd only react if the authorities barred Ryanair from flying because of it, or penalized the company so much that it was no longer profitable to have the rule.

I'm trying not to turn this into a Ryan air pro/con argument but their charges are all easily avoided with proper prior planning.

sorry that last reply was to kevin
I think they make it pretty clear what the charges will be.
wouldn't fly with them again.
That will teach her to leave it until the last couple of days to print off her boarding card.

even so she could go to any net cafe and print it for a quid!
There are plenty of print shops.

We have no choice but to fly with them.
TTT....then why didn't she?
I've booked with Ryanair a few times in the past year and you can avoid extra charges. I only pay for the flight, which does have extras added to it, but those are unavoidable, see below. I must admit it is a bit of a minefield if you're not careful when booking as they put all sorts of things which you need to opt in/out of, but I've not had a problem yet.

Taxes, Fees & Charges
EU 261 Levy
Web Check in
ETS
Administration Fee
Checked Bag(s)
Perhaps she isn't computer literate?
sandy....brothers, husband, sons, daughters, cousins, nieces......?
People in the print shops/cafes are.
Question Author
The taxes are not Ryan air. There is no web check in cost if you don;t have bags. I take a big ruck sack. What's ETS?
