I'm generally a supporter of Ryan air, going with the view that their extra charges are all avoidable. However this is definately a new level in exploitation!

Wow - there's loony for you 25 cents per ticket and it's all the fault of those EU rotters.

Would that be the same EU rotters do you think that are blocking RyanAirs current takeover plans for aer lingus as it would leave consumers with no real choice in flights between the UK and Ireland?

Damn the EU and their constant sticking up for the consumer over the interests of big business!
Ryanair have never made any secret of the £70 charge for printing a boarding pass. (They need to do their very best to ensure that passengers don't turn up at the airport without a valid boarding pass as there systems simply couldn't cope if many people did so).

I've experienced printer problems myself when I've needed to print such a pass. I've simply used an internet café to complete the task. Most libraries also offer a similar facility. I can't see where the problem is.

Crikey - flying has become so complicated .

Gone are the days when you would turn up - give your name and board the aeroplane .

A bloke would hold the propeller , someone would shout contact , engine would splutter into action ; and thereafter you were up , up and away .
If the only alternative to flying with the foul-mouthed Mr Ryan's airline was to walk, than I would rush off and get a new pair of walking boots. I heard him being interviewed a few years ago on the Today program and I don't think I have ever heard such an ignorant man in my life.

Don't give this man your money !
the idea is that they want to spend the absolute minimum time at the airport, so as to avoid paying ground fees; therefore they want you not to put luggage that requires loading and unloading in the hold, not to take up staff time handing out boarding passes etc.

I'm with Kevink, EasyJet are much better and given the choice that's who I'd fly with. If you want to go Ryanair, read the entire website. The relevant page is here

//..therefore they want you not to put luggage that requires loading and unloading in the hold, ..//

Where do they want you put it then ?

Used them once
won't do it again!
Bazile, they want you to take carry-on luggage only.
I'm surprised you support Ryan Air, they let people use e-cigarettes.
Whats wrong with ecigs craft?
Crikey. Half the time I fly, when I turn up at the airport, I haven't even bought a ticket.

I go to the airline desks and see when the next flight is that has a free seat.

Happily, the process does not ever have to involve RyanAir.
right ho , jno

You have got to hand to them , dont you ? -You have an aeroplane with an empty hold - big saving on fuel .

So is there an extra charge if you have luggage that needs to go in the hold ?
I don't think it's a weight or fuel issue.

I think if they can encourage (coerce?) all their passengers to carry their own luggage, they save on baggage handling charges.
Personally, I always send the Butler to get my air tickets and I haven't heard him complain in the past. I shall ask him after he has finished blacking the boots.

Seatguru says: "Discounted rates apply online the first 15 kg checked bag is charged at £15/€15 and the second 15 kg checked bag at £35/€35. If checked baggage fees are paid for either at the airport or through a Ryanair call centre, the higher rate of £35/€35 for the first 15 kg bag and £70/€70 for the second 15 kg bag applies."

So if you must check in luggage, for heaven's sake do it online.
mikey, I used to send the underparlourmaid to do that, until I finally noticed she was coming back a week later looking suspiciously tanned.
Methyl - Ryanair don`t carry cargo. Cargo is very lucrative but maybe it is not worth their while because it takes time to unload and Ryanair want to be on the ground for the minimum amount of time possible (which is why they discourage passengers from taking hold luggage)

It costs £20 a look though. You'll get a bill via e-mail.
