Why not...?
Question Author
No reason that I can see. It will be good to see an additional enclave of spirituality in a largely Godless city.
no.
talk about opening a can of worms, sandy!

they can -if they sort out both chunks of the A30 that need taking up to dual carriageway. As at lunch time, no one knew whether Osborne was talking about tackling both sections or just Bodmin or Carland to Chiverton Crosses.
seeing as you don't live here, it won't affect you, and how do you know it's a Godless city.
As Ummm. Why not? Nice to see a new church being built. Not had one built round here since the Mormons about 20 years ago. They don't cause much trouble.
homes are needed before any bloody religious monument.
Why not, Em?
Would you feel the same if it were a catholic church?
it's not a church, but a Mosque, Christianity is going and this is taking it's place, so why should it be welcome. Developers are already killing this city with endless glass and steel boxes, office space apparently, whilst the working folk, and some that don't are being moved out because they haven't got the money to stay.
have you seen the size of it, what on earth is wrong with some people, it won't be welcome, and no i wouldn't put a Catholic Church there or indeed any religious edifice, homes are what's needed.
is this for real, or is someone taking the p iss.

My first reaction was why don't they just go back to a muslim dominated country?
Will muslims be the only ones allowed to build the thing if it gets planning permission?
if they want a mosque why don't they build it someplace where the majority are Muslim.

If all Muslim countries allowed the building of churches, chapels, synagogues and the like, I might have a different point of view.
alba, but they don't. This monstrosity shouldn't get the green light, and i can find no definitive answer as to how many mosques there are in UK, but from any number of websites there are conservative estimates of over a 1,000, many Anglican churches being converted into mosques.
most on here don't live in the capital, i think there are one or two who do, i wonder what they think?
