I used to have a VAX vacuum cleaner which made a LOT of noise but was crap at cleaning.
Now that Ive moved home will need to buy a new one. Any recommendations for a low priced but powerful hoover? Thanks

I like Henry the Hoover but I'm sure others will offer different suggestions

I recommend the Miele vacuum cleaner. One of the best brands around.
I agree with society, Miele is the best. Trouble is it's not cheap
...don't bother, they all suck.
Meile. Best one I've ever had.
Got my mum a Panasonic vac cheaper than some and not too heavy to carry upstairs, don;t know what they are like now. I've got a Dyson rollerball not cheap it nearly sucks the floorboards up, no bags to change.
dyson are the nest, mine is a dyson with 5 year parts gaurantee.....and its a sucker, u should see the contents of the drum once i have hoovered, it sucks up every dust particle
My recco is an OLD model Panasonic .. quiet, powerful, and cheap. Look on ebay.
I have a couple of Panasonic Icon's. Great cleaners but NLA.
Miele great upright cleaner but a bit heavy and a bit noisy.
Dyson .. New compact quite good, but Dysons are very expensive for what they are .. a bundle of plastic!
My Meile's a cylinder rather than the upright - I've got 3 cats and it's a whizz at getting up cat hair (off the carpet, not the cats, that is).
bald cats...siamese joking
