I got my nose pierced almost a year ago. It was done by my regular tattoo guy, but he pierced me with a sterling silver stud. soon after I developed a large painful bump on the site so I took out the silver stud and but in a 14 k gold one and everything was fine after that, but my options on studs are limited. I was wondering if anyone knew whether I could replace it with say surgical steel?

have a look here for some info.. http://tattoo.about.c...-bump-on-piercing.htm
when i got my belly button pierced, it went the same way after i started wearing other metals in it. i found i could only use titanium products in it, like the one i got it done with. and i actually only wear the same bar i got it done with now, and that was 6 years ago. only take it out to wash it. i'm afraid it will go like that again so i don't chance getting anymore jewellery! having said that, it seemed to be worse when wearing 14k gold, and they reckon wearing 14k is no good for long term wear as you can develop allergys to it, don't know how true this is though
