does anyone know of a cure for nightmares ???do they relate to diet .. etc or just past experiences

Depends on what the nightmares are about. EG. monsters and vampires - stop watching horror films lol. If they are nightmares about a specific thing though, such as dying, then using deep breathing techniques such as you would use in yoga (or even when giving birth of all things!) to calm you are well worth trying. I used to have horrific nightmares abut dying up until I was in my late teens/early 20's and was told to treat the nightmares like panic attacks as they produce similar symptoms. I still get them, but am able to control the panic feelings very very well since I was given this advice. I hope this helps. xxxx
Why want a cure? Learn to enjoy the experience, after all its only a dream. I have many vivid dreams most are nightmarish, its like a mini horror film and your the star. Best ones are when my partner has to wake me up cause im all "spooked" in my sleep. Love it.
I have had vivid dreams and nightmares for as long as I can remember. The really bad nightmares are truly upsetting and I can't get them out of my mind the next day. These make me scream in my sleep, but apparently it comes out like a cat mieow according to my husband. I wish I had an answer for you. I presume it's because I'm such an anxious person that it happens. My dreams are so bizarre that I think Steven Spielburg would pay me a fortune for the scripts, if only I could remember them in detail! My doctor tells me he thinks my nightmares are due to my anxieties. Perhaps herbal tea might help you as a night-time drink - e.g.camomile. Or some herbal relaxant tablets or good old Bachs Rescue Remedy. Ian King certainly has a good point!
PS My worst nightmares are where I am a vampire. Perhaps in another life .....?
eating cheese in the evening gives you nightmares. eating lettuce in the evening (a lettuce butty say) makes you sleep like a baby.
If only it were that simple, Darth Vader!
Meditating and concentrating on positive/happy thoughts before falling asleep should help.
