Hi all, we have been to the Algarve so many times and love it. I am thinking of booking to take my husband there when we have a week off in October but we have never been at that time of year. Has anyone been to the Algarve in October? What's the weather like? Would you recommend it? Thanks everyone.

Yeah, been a couple of times. It's luck of the draw really, you get mostly nice days, sunny, very sunny even, mid to high 70's and the sea is warm that time of year. There's always the chance of cloud/rain though for the odd day or so, we've always had a couple of bad days out of a fortnight when we've gone at that time of year. Villas are cheaper though in Oct, so it's a balancing act depending on what your priorities are.

Thanks Dr Wu.
I went in June/July once and it rained for 3 days. It's sometimes the luck of the draw. I have noticed that some brochures give you an average rainfall scale for different countries for that particular month. I would just say that the evenings would be getting cooler in October. Portugal is in on the Atlantic and I noticed it got cool in the evenings.

What about Madeira? That is Portugese but has a more steady climent if you stay in Funchal. I went once and thought it was lovely.
