Does anyone know when and why did the colours Blue for a Boy and Pink for a Girl, become fashionable, and why does the female of the species still hold onto Pink into the adult age, and yet the male does not hold onto Blue?

found this.....

Maybe boys don't hold onto the traditional powder blue that we come to expect as the colour associated with baby boys because it represents exactly that......babies, and is not considered manly??
Confusingly though I also found this....
