i have never had any problems when it comes to shaving my legs untill about 12mths ago . now no matter what type of razor or cream i use i get a rash 90% of the time. i have tried cheap razors expensive razors so many types of gels . using conditioner instead of gel as heard that was good, lotions afterwards etc..the only cream that does not make it worse is e45 or johnsons baby oil gel. also tried hair removing cream and that is now starting to irritate. i do make sure the rash is completely gone b4 i shave . i am female any ideas or advise would be good.

Our skin and hair changes with age. Most obvious reason for the rash is the dead skin layer, which stoppes the hair growing straight. So exfoliate properly.

And not just when you shave, but each time you are in a shower. The reason why E45 and Baby Oil work is because they moisturise that dry dead layer, but don't remove it so the rash still occures. If you exfoliate as well as use moisturiser you will see a really fast change. If you keep up the routine couple of weeks should be enough to get rid of the rash full stop.

Question, have you tried an epilator? I know it might hurt to start with, but not only does the hair removal last for up to a couple of weeks but if used regularly, hairs grow finer and fewer. You still need to exfoliate like there is no tomorrow and perhaps use anti-bacterial wash after, to prevent redness. But again after a couple of weeks your skin gets used to it, you'll not feel any pain and the rash will be gone.

Try dryshaving with talc and rinse off afterwards.
hi i used to have a similar problem untill i started using a shower gel made specifacally for sensitive skin. try using a cheap razor(with no lubricating strips on it) and smother your legs with a good shower gel,try sanex shower gel for sensitive skin (i think the bottles orange or cream) then shave your legs and let them dry naturally, dont dry with a towel then when legs are dry cover your legs in nivea body firming lotion. it did the trick for me. good luck.nivea lotion is available from boots think you can get sanex there aswell,if not try tescos.

i had the same problem & am convinced i was using too many products & my skin just could not cope. best thing i tried was king of shaves gel which you can get in boots. has little moisturising beads suspended in the gel so you dont need separate cream afterwards. make sure you rinse really thoroughly. just take comfort that these thing usually go away as suddenly as they come.

i had this problem until I found "King of Shaves Woman Shave & Smooth Shaving Spritz" It comes in a pink spray tube, and they sell it at Boots (though possibly not in the smaller shops).

They also do a 'shaving oil' in a tiny bottle - I have had less luck with this as the oil is a bit more 'thick'. The spritz is really nice as your razor just glides over your legs. I really would recommend it, it really made my life much more pleasant to not have to worry about having red dots al over my legs, and also avoiding the situation where by the time your legs look nice again, the hair is all stubbly again...

thanks for your anwsers im going to make sure i exfoliate well and change to a senisitive shower gel and moisturiser. i will keep an epilator in mind ive had my bikini line lazered so it cant be anymore painfull than that!

i tried a free sample of the king of shave stuff ages ago cant remember what is was but it i remember thinking it was good did not know where to get if from but i do now thanks.

i use king of shaves woman shave and moisturise shaving oil. This replaced their 'sensitive skin' one. dont try any of their other products as they are perfumed. Also after shaving if I use anything other than e45 cream on my legs (just immediatly after shaving) i get a bit of a rash. Stick to these 2 bits of advice and you should be fine. King of shaves woman not in all shops but they do have a website.
