I have spent the last few days trying to book a UK self-catering holiday for next June. Every property I look is fully booked, not just in June but all summer.
I've looked at all price brackets in different areas. So disappointing
many people are being supported by way of Cost of Living payments, winter fuel allowances and sundry other payments. This will help for a while. But the crash is going to come, mark my words.
Hotels are cancelling peoples booking in favour of housing illegal immigrants, this will have the unfortunate knock on effect to other hotels who dont as the general public will not trust the hotel industry.
Also, if you take out thousands of rooms across the country it stands to reason the people who would have booked them will need to book somewhere else.
My niece & her hubby stayed at the Grand Hotel in Scarborough recently. She said some migrants (Afghans?) were being housed there but seemed to be kept separate from the paying guests.
Khandro, I've never stayed at one either, but am aware of the reputation. There are two large Britannia hotels not far from me and they are shockingly bad. Britannia also owns Pontins.
