Christmas or cooking! Gave in and bought a turkey roll thingy to just stick in the oven - opened it just now and you have to cover it in foil - guess what, no foil! Why do they have to make life so difficult?

Some convenience stores (and plenty of garages with convenience stores in them) are open today, Lankeela. However, for the sake of just getting hold of a bin of foil, a knock on a neighbour's door might well be the best way forward at this point!
Agree with Chris, borrow some or have you any greaseproof or baking paper?
I took the easy way out too. I bought carrots and parsnips, intending to serve them with a honey and mustard glaze, as well as some sprouts but I couldn't be bothered to have any veg in the end.

I've just had one of these

in one of these

followed by one of these

with extra thick double cream.

Accompanied, of course, by a glass or two of this

Come on now, if I haven't even got foil what's the chance of me having greaseproof or baking paper? Everything in this house comes ready to cook or it doesn't make it through the door. It will have to take its chance straight in the oven and if it goes to hell in a handcart at least the dogs will get a treat.
Got some silver paint ?

I've got Aunt Bessies roasties, with her Yorkshires and Birds Eye microwave steam veggies. Then a microwave Christmas pud for one with a little pot of Devon custard. Got to make the effort at Christmas!
It will be nice and crispy. Yum.
Casserole dish with a lid?
Are your neighbours really that unfriendly then, Lankeela?

I hardly know my neighbours at all but I wouldn't hesitate to beg a bit of foil for my Christmas meal if I needed it!

The foil keeps the moisture in. Without it you'll end up with an incredibly dry roast.

Put it this way I spent two hours down the cop shop a few weeks ago after reporting him for filming me in my garden, and ended up being given a warning for using offensive language!
Cheese on toast and have the turkey another day.

Allergic to cheese and it never crosses the threshhold! Cooked cheese is the worst and I have to leave the room if I have to prepare it at work for the boys I care for.
Boiled egg and soldiers?

It is covered with strips of bacon, so hoping that will shrivel up and the meat will be ok. Got a few bottles of Bud to make it bearable. Failing that jam sandwiches.
I did a load of frozen stuff this year as I’m at my son and d-in-law’s and their new baby, and they wanted to make the cooking easy for me. I’d much rather do it my own way. Everything took twice as long as expected and I got in a slight flap.

Thought Her Maj looked good, now waiting for a raft of Big Bang Theory episodes to take me through to tea time. Box of Celebrations and some McCoys to nibble on.
Enjoy, whatever you have.

A good time to remember the 811 million people who won’t have enough food today.
Fancy not liking cheese on toast.
It's what I'm having today.
Easy to make, you don't feel ill/bloated/stuffed.
Plus the kitchen doesn't look like a scene from the Somme afterwards.
That's a suspiciously specific number, gromit.
