Covid Scam

According to our Local Neighbourhood Community site there is a recent scam going around purporting to be from Gov/UK.
It is a text message which states you have been reported for leaving your home three times in the day and will be fined £35 which will be deducted from your GoV/UK account.
It then provides a 'government' phone line no to ring.
I would suggest DO NOT RING the phone number provided and ignore it.
It looks reasonably convincing and the elderly and vulnerable may be alarmed if they receive it and stand to lose more than the £35 penalty.

Been around a while that one, retro. There are various versions:
Scam text 'issues fine' to people leaving house https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-hereford-worcester-52049616
Trouble is that in this controlling present environment it's almost believable. Perhaps give it a week.
Thanks, I can see some might be worried when they first see it. I wonder though how many people think they have a gov.uk account from which money can be deducted.
