i book my shopping slots in advance and add to them as im going along. to secure them you have to have £40 worth of shopping in the basket, so i normally hove an expensive bottle of malt in there, with the view to getting rid of it nearer the time and replacing it with groceries.
As ocado's website has been shut over the last few days i have not been able to do this (and in fact don't need anything much either but i am unable to release the slot back into the wild). So i n this time when internet shopping slots are really needed for self isolating people, Ocado are coming all the way out to me to deliver me one bottle of whisky.

They should have left at least an email or phone line open for people like yourself to cancel a slot.
I couldn't get a slot until the 14th April. I've told my nephew at least 4 times today that he isn't allowed to snack. I bet he will though....
I managed to get one for 13th April.

im hoping the website reopens as i have another one for next week with the same situation
My son is home from uni later so that means I'll have 8 people to feed :-(
Ummmm- tell him your restaurant has had to shut as per Boris. Perhaps he should self isolate in a tent in the garden for a week.

When is the delivery due, bednobs?
Question Author
tomorrow 9pm
That's what comes of panic delivery-slot booking.
Hardly panic - common sense planning ahead.
Same with me, although our ‘reserve’ item is 3 expensive bottles of olive oil. I sympathise withOcado, but someone there is getting it wrong!
Presumably bednobs has a regular slot/order and sometimes cancels when nothing is needed- or just drinks the malt
I haven't changed the way I shop, I order every 12/14 days - however this time there was nothing for a month following my last delivery which had missing staple items.
Ocado's website is open again.
Get in Bednobs, good luck.

but you are not allowed to alter anything in slots for the next 2 days
Ah, you may be stuck with the Malt tomorrow then.
That's not what I see, bednobs. My reserved slot is between 7pm and 8pm on Monday evenings, and I am able to edit tomorrow's until 01:10 tomorrow morning.
It's clearly designed to stop people doing exactly what you did. I'm afraid I can't see the difference between buying toilet paper you might or might not need and booking a delivery slot you might or might not need; in both cases you are taking something someone desperate may need.
Yes, all those of us in the same boat are doing isforward-planning. We book a week, sometimes two, in advance, to make sure we get our regular Monday slot.

No panic buying, no panic bookings. Just intelligent behaviour. (And we’ve only got 8 toilet rolls in the cupboard!)
Can't do that FF...I haven't seen him in months :-( he said university is likely to be closed until October. Alright for him as he has a job and nowhere to spend his money :-)
