Not really sure if this is the correct catagory to ask this question but here goes. Does anyone know how much it would cost to have a marble headstone in a cemetry restored, by restored I mean cleaned and the lettering touched up. We are currently waiting for a quote from a Monumental Mason but would like to have some sort of estimate so that we can see if its a fair price. Many thanks in advance.

my aunt had a family headstone restored about 5 yrs ago and I think she paid about 300-400 then

If you find it costs too much, have a go yourself. Marble can be easily cleaned by scrubbing with a bleach & water solution. If the lettering isn't too bad and only patchy, have a go at touching it up with paint. Whatever the outcome, keep up a cleaning routine (say once a month) with bleach & water to keep the marble looking good.

You need to give me the size of the memorial, the actual level of deterioration on the memorial, the amount of lettering, the type of lettering i.e. cut, raised lead, whether or not the letters are painted or gilded and if so, do they need repainting or regilding before i can guestimate a quote for you.
