Any nice plans for today?

I think OH wants a fish pie and we'll probably go and have a drink somewhere this afternoon, weather permitting.

Have a lovely day, everyone.

For everyone who is celebrating Father's Day I wish you well and hope you and all your familes enjoy themselves.

Morning, Lady-J. How are you today? xx

Both father and son are still asleep upstairs whilst I'm hard at work down here. We had a lovely evening with the in-laws last night but gosh I was so tired.

Are you doing anything nice today?
Not doing anything special today. Just the normal routine. Nothing really exciting happens here. Yesterday afternoon there was a two minute wonder. I heard a voice outside so went to see if we had a visitor and saw a young lad, about 8-10 yrs, running up the path to the top part of the garden. Put outdoor shoes on and he was running back down again with the farmer. I couldn't see any animals, dogs, cows, sheep, with them and that was it all over. I'll mention it to farmer next time I see him.
That's it - excitement for the year over.

Has anyone got any lovely Father's Day or just father-related memories to share?

I remember the day the little one was born - by Cat 1 emergency C-section due to cord prolapse - OH was handed the little bundle once he was checked over and cleaned up. His face was utterly expressionless. I always say I can read him like a book but on that occasion I couldn't discern anything. I think OH was just numb!
Question Author
Sorry, Lady-J, your answer wasn't there when I typed my last post.

I would give anything for the peace and tranquility you describe. It sounds idyllic. I would like to live somewhere more rural (although we have a massive stretch of woodland at the top of our road) but OH isn't keen on the idea.
No sorry nothing relating to Father's Day. It was before my children's young time and certainly before mine.
Yes Happy Fathers Day in Heaven to my Dad , loved him as he loved us , it’s been almost 40 years since he went to be a Tv and radio engineer in the sky but the pain of losing him remains forever x

I see what you mean, Jan. I actually don't remember "Father's Day" when I was growing up and I have no memories of my biological father who died around 1990 (although I didn't find out until 2011).

Morning, Bobbi. I'm glad you have nice memories to look back on. No, you never stop missing someone when they've gone.
I never knowingly met my father so no tales to tell. I have no idea what happened but he did leave me some of his books though. All psychiatry ones. My mother never spoke of it.
Question Author
My mother never spoke of my father either. I guess you can't miss what you never had. I have a step-father who, when growing up, was more of an authoritarian than a stepdad. He's mellowed in his old age.

Love the avatar, Bobbi. :-)

I've changed mine for Father's Day, as you can see.
There’s a lot of people who just have a sperm donor as a Dad , especially now , not meaning you of course Jan, the young women who get themselves pregnant by someone who’s got no intention of taking on the responsibilities of having a child, they just do the deed and move on, those innocent children will never know Fathers Day , no cards to send etc
Thank you Lcg ,
A nice little family unit on yours, a house is not a home without the laughter of little ones, I’m very philosophical this Sunday morning , aren’t I ? :0)))

Sadly true, Bobbi. I have a friend who was raised by her nan (she calls her mum) as both her parents walked out on her. I have another friend whose mother walked out and she was raised by her father whom she absolutely adores - he went to court and fought to get full custody of her.

Oh Bobbi, I couldn't imagine life without my little one. And the bond he has with his daddy is amazing. They idolise each other.
I remember being very jealous of one little boy in my class at school because he had two dads. He told me that the milkman was his daddy whilst his daddy was away in the army. Oh, he had two daddies and I didn't have one.
Morning, lost dad on my 60th birthday in 2020, he could be a good old pain in the backside sometimes but I loved him dearly and miss him so much more than I ever thought I would. On the plus side, I’m making my partner’s dad his favourite Sunday lunch, partner is working all day so it will just be his dad and me.

Ha ha, that's so funny ! :-)

I always teased the OH that the little one was the Postman's...
One of my nieces ( through marriage ) her and her husband adopted their two grandsons after the girl who got pregnant twice in a year , was too young and neglected them while their son showed no responsibility for his actions, that was years ago and now they’re both tall good looking young men holding down good jobs
Hey Jude :0)

I’ll often say to my daughter,”you’re just like your Dad, whoever he was “ haha
