I remember the days when I was a single mid 20 year old guy and my only worry at this time of year was "Where is the next party!?"

Now, mortgage, family and a fairly important job that requires me to be on call for some of the festive period, things are a little different.

For me its a few drinks tomorrow evening with some work collegues. Then at home over the weekend. Family coming to us Xmas Eve and then us to my mum and dads Xmas Day. Watch the Boxing Day football with the lads and a few pints and then thats it, done! Staying in New Year on account of being on call and my partner working New Years Day at 8.30am.

I kind of miss the minor responsibility, lets party attitude of years gone by but back then the spirit of Christmas past me by. This year I go into Christmas a family man with his own home and I feel that I am seeing a new meaning to Christmas. Time to appreciate what you have got and those that you love the most in the world!

Merry Christmas

Tomorrow - Meeting friends in the afternoon and a different group in the evening.
Saturday - Slobbing around the house pretending to tidy around
Sunday - Pub and watching crap on TV
Christmas Eve - Ignore outside world before going to a friend for the evening...much wine will be involved.
Christmas Day - Drink bubbles in my jim-jams might push the boat out and have a croissant for breakfast. Eat whatever is lurking in the fridge/freezer. Go to friend in the evening.
Boxing Day - Wake up late, slightly hungover (hopefully/probably) catch up on TV from night before. Go to friends in the evening.
Next day - wake up in a strange bed, wait half a life time for a crappy cooked breakfast, go home, catch up on crappy TV.
Back in my 20s I was a party girl. Would be out Christmas Eve with mates, spend Christmas morning nursing a hangover, then back out Boxing day.

Hogmanay would be the start of a 2 day party.

Now I spend the festivities with Mr P and our two beautiful daughters. No booze, no parties, no hangovers!

Sometimes I do miss the recklessness of my youth, but I couldn't be happier with my little family so the feeling passes quickly.

Merry Christmas to you too jd, and all the other ABers - even the ones I don't see eye to eye with at times!

I hope 2013 brings you all you wish for. xx
Visiting relatives, eating far too much, drinking far too much, chilling out in front of TV oh and plenty of sex, I hope !!!

Merry Christmas.

I actually think there will come a time when the 29th takes over from the 25th, and all round the world people will celebrate us.

Fifth Christmas without OH....can't believe it! First Christmas without gorgeous son-in-law....that's going to be hard but........grandchildren have new people in their lives so we shall welcome them, have fun spending time together and I shall drive them nuts dropping hints about summer weddings and new hats.
Enjoy yours jd. x
