Most useless present ever

Last night a friend gave me a christmas present. It was a prepackaged stack of red and patterned boxes tied up with ribbon and I am talking a big stack. When I got them home I tried separating the boxes. This was impossible without stripping the boxes coverings as they were glued and taped together. Inside one was a packet of fancy biscuits - like an assortment with cellophane round. Another had a bag of fudge, a small star shaped box had 4 sweets in. The other boxes had silver paper bags of something. Wont know what till I open them. What a waste of money as I bet it wasnt cheap. What a waste of resources - paper and cardboard. I hope none of you get something that looks good like this did but was so disappointing.

It's the thought that counts.

Quite. I can never tell her. And I had to go and say thank you to her husband who chose it for me!
Ah that explains it..
This year I have given my colleague at work an old gucci gift box with the perfume removed (I use that) but the body lotion in tact. Under the packaging I have put three bags of sweeties (not chocs as we are just about sick of them).
I am now worried she wont see it as a joke but think I am being serious

If mine was a joke I didnt get it! Better make sure your friend realises ric.ror
...hope friend doesn't do AB.....
I can't see what the problem is??? Am I missing something? Ok, so it wasn't your ideal present to receive but it was nice of them to get you something. Could have been worse.

The only problem was that the huge amount of packaging was a complete waste as once you had prised the boxes apart they were too messy and torn to reuse. Also the contents were like a small bag of something or other in big boxes. So they paid really for the packaging. It looked great until you got down to dismantling the stack. Would never have mentioned it if I could at least have kept the boxes!
How ungrateful!!!

I'm only joking, Grass :-) I know what you mean. I hate it when people use SO much packaging, when it's not needed.
I ordered a few bits from Play.com a couple of weeks ago, and it all came in huge, separate boxes. There was a small torch, in this huge box? Random.... and such a waste!

its ok fliptheswitch. Maybe I am! The annoying thing is that they have gone somewhere and see this huge colourful stack and probably paid quite a bit of money, and it is a con. Looks great but if I put all the contents in a pile it is next to nothing. As I said, if I could have at least reused the boxes I would have kept quiet. They will never know as I wont tell them!
