I have no idea where or who I caught it from as I've hardly been out in the last week, well apart from Sainsbury's on Saturday.

Can you get just from getting a chill or can you only catch it from other people?

Join the club tigger. I had the flu about 4 weeks ago and then caught a cold, which I still have !
It has to be caught.......either from other people which is the commonest reason or by touching infected objects like perhaps a door knob (less commoner reason)
A cold is caused by a virus in the air so you can catch it anywhere
In the Far East people walk around with masks on when they have a cold. Good idea to do that here!
sorry Tiggs, I sneezed at yer last night

snap, a rotten one..
You've probably touched something at Sainsbury which already hast the virus spread to it from someone who was already infected, then you touched your face or nose.
Let's hope it doesn't turn into man-flu .. that's almost certainly fatal. ;-)

Weird as I've hardly been near anyone. How long can it manifest in the body before the symptoms come along?
colds are ok, it's the flu type ones that get me down, plenty of Lemsips I am taking

I blame Bobbi!
me too... at least I'm in an office on my own so won't infect anyone else the anti bacterial spray is ready and waiting
Question Author
Well I don't feel achy or shivery yet so I hope it doesn't turn into flu.
I think money in shops is probably a cause of spreading germs. People sneeze into their hands then handle money. When I see a till worker in Sainsburys with a cold I always want to pay by credit card!
it was me, it was me...LOL

I just hope the little one doesn't get it off you Tiggs
sorry to hear you've got a cold tigger. get well soon

im finally on the mend after another dose of tonsillitis!
Question Author
So do I Bobbi. Mind you I've got plenty of Nurofen for him.

I'm always obsessively washing my hands but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Thanks Jubie, glad to hear you're on the mend :o)
best part about being ill is I've been able to catch to all you ABers in the day instead of just a quick catch up after work lol
Question Author
Indeed Jubie, when I'm at work I hardly ever get the chance. I'm dreading going back though.
Just wait until the little one goes to school.

They play swaps with the viruses at school, and bring them home to you.
