It is Burn's Night in a week and I still haven't shot my haggis!

Is it too late to stalk, shoot, hang and skin a haggis and weave my plaid?

remember to keep it under your sporan when you catch one.
Only the ones which run clockwise round the hils are in season don't forget.
You have to follow them round the mountain because they have two legs shorter than the other and can only go round one way.
I wouldn't bother there are plenty of "Mocks" about so I'm sure somrbody will have a spare.
I understand that Haggi are now intensively reared in the Highlands so you should be able to fine one in time.

As for weaving your plaid, whatever floats your boat...

Thanks Zacs and Helly, it is fair to say I'm a little rusty in the ways of the timorous wee beasties!

2sp what do you do with their coats, if not weave a plaid?
Bruce Forsyth wears them on his head.
You're probably too late to apply for the hunting licence, Ecclescake but never fear, there's an excellent butcher and game seller in Brigadoon who'll supply you freshly killed and dressed haggii. It's a florin and three groats per fluid scruple (equivalent).
Fair fa' your honest sonsie face.
Don't forget to polish your caber.

nooo, Eccles, you want it raw not boiled..
Don't shoot the Haggis, shoot the Scots instead ! Once they gain Independence they will be lobbing Mortar Shells across the border ....
eccles, you make your sporran out of the skins.....

or failing that, a furry hat :-)
ppsssst pedant, pedant, it's Burns' Night.....

That could be a bit awkward Redman, given my heritage and that of Mr Cake!
When I asked an ex-pay Scot living here in the U.S., why he returned to Scotland with regularity each 5 years, I was told that Haggis season in the Highlands is only every 5 years and he has to plan ahead to have sufficient supply on hand. I've had one he brought back, and although weird looking, didn't fast to bad.

I asked him if he ever wanted to have the head of a big male Haggis stuffed to hang above the fireplace and was told it's illegal in Scotland and applies to the U.S. under international treaty… go figure! Learn something new all the time...
Sorry… that's "ex-pat Scot"

How do you go about skinning a pedant? ;-)
'' shoot the scots'' oh you think so !!!!!!!!!!
The shy haggis can be found at the summit of most Scottish mountains. Their right legs are longer then their left enabling them to run round the summit at great speeds in as anti-clockwise direction without falling over . However should they attempt to run in the other direction they will roll down the hill and lie helpless in the valleys below. Here they are collected by the Highland Haggis Gatherers and sold throughout Scotland where they are considered a great delicacy.
