14 clubs are the maximum permitted when playing. Many serious golfers buy just the irons as a set and then select woods, lob wedges and a putter to suit.

I only have a Driver, 3 wood, 4,5,6,7,8 and 9 iron and a pitch and sand wedge. Never felt the need for any more than that.
Not been out since September, I am what you call a fair weather golfer.
