Breaking into retail shouldn't be all that hard to be honest. There really isn't much you experience you should need to start at the lower level i.e Sales Assistant. All you should need is to show willing and that you are considerate and would have great customer service. That you are a good team player and can work on your own initiative. That's it. Just be prepared for the stress retail often brings (staff shortages, grumpy customers, targets etc - much like many jobs) and that again like a lot of places and fields these days retail isn't the safest area to work in with regards to redundancy.
easy, sell on ebay = first lesson in retail
You don't break in to retail - it isn't a specialised or coveted career. Just apply to those stores you fancy.
As HC pretty much summed up. Retail is generally something you want to break out of. I did for nine or so years - I finally have and I am grateful I left!

If it is something you feel you will enjoy then go for it. Just apply for companies you are interested in.
