I heard that NASA are looking into the Warp Drive theory used in Star Trek.

Is this just a speculative rumour or is it true ?

There are those at NASA who are continually looking into proposed propulsion theories. Their website has several web pages devoted to the idea of a Warp Drive, for example, here...

It may or may not be possible according to the laws of physics (which, as is well documented, ye canna change), but the problem of generating and controlling the mind boggling amount of energy required may mean it is impossible in practice.
I believe someone once worked out the theory behind the transporter in Star Trek and their plans to transport one person, would use the same amount of electricity that Germany uses in a year!
what about the tribbles? have they found them yet?
I'm gonna invent a portable communication device where you lift it's cover and can then start talking to people who are many miles away. Surpised that no-one's thought of that yet.
We marveled at the sliding doors on the Enterprise, and now every supermarket has them.
I may look inot developing a small hand held device that you can hold on someone and zap them and stun them like in Man From Uncle, it may work........
I've got a tribble and it makes the right noise too.And if a clingon ever comes to my house I will know!(sad, aren't I?) I also sneaked some Romulan Ale home passed customs from Las Vegas!
actually, I think a wireless earpiece like Uhura wore on comms would be useful to use with a hands free communication device whilst driving........
mmmmmm not sure the live video link they used on the bridge would ever work in reality though,m especially on a massive screen.............
As the years go on Science Fiction becomes Science Fact.

Imagine if it were possible to sit down with an early human and tell them what things would be like in 2010.!
