Its Joint Services designation is OX-24. It is also known as O-157, 91-102 and MIL-L-14107C AM.2 if that helps you find something out about it.
How the hell could you possibly know that?
Why do you have a gun and not know how to use it questioner? More worryingly, why do you have a ministry of defence gun?

Just to put minds at rest.

I am in the TA and on the occasional weekends i shoot as part of a team. To lubricate the parts we use a gun oil. I wonder if the oil is likely to cuase problems such as dermatisis

Any mineral oil based product has the potential to cause skin problems due to the way they interact with the skin. The best way to avoid the probelms is to avoid contact with the offending material.

Bigpub, I know this might not help but it is your employers resposibility to carry out a Health & Safety risk assessment for the gun oil. The manufacturer is obliged to provide the MSDS whenever the oil is supplied. Have you asked your colleagues/bosses at the TA.

You are quite correct to ask about this.
