Apparently the first film I was taken to see was 'Bambi', but I have no recollection of that.

The first film I actually remember seeing was 'Bedknobs and Broomsticks...and I kicked up a HUGE fuss...fidgeting and moaning, because the tv advert showed all the cartoon-y bits, but for the first 30 minutes of the film it was all boring live action scenes set in Scotland.

Blatant false advertising.

too young to remember (I used to get shipped out to the cinema every Saturday from a very early age)... it was about a dog and the dog died and I was crying. It wasn't Old Yeller, but about that era, I guess.
The first I can remember was Calamity Jane with Doris Day.
ET...

James Bond - Octopussy. I hated it and have never willingly watched another one!

I remember going to see ET, but only because my brother cried and I laughed at him. Don't remember watching the film at all!
Three Men And A Baby.

I still watch it now, whenever it's on.
Snow white and the seven dwarfs is the earliest I remember... no idea what I'd being taken to see before that.
I used to go to the cinema club every Saturday :-)
//set in Scotland. //

did you see a different version to the one I saw? the children were evacuated to sussex, I thought.
My Dad used to take me to the cinema so Mum could get her jobs done in peace, it didn't always work out well as he was a huge western fan. The sight of those pesky whoopin' Injuns had a 3 year old screaming on many an occasion.
oh Gunfight at the ok corall with Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas I think , though my mum said she took me to see .a town like Alice
Either Bambi, or the Unfinished Dance, or Holiday Inn, certainly one of them.
I vaguely remember seeing a Dads Army film but, like you SP, the first one I really remember was Bedknobs and Broomsticks. I really liked it and don't remember any of the TV hype.
I'm told I went to see the original Star Wars but I don't remember that from the time, only ESB and ROTJ when they were released.

The first film I remember seeing was The Rescuers (1977) in Woolwich, but I probably remember it because we had to walk for ages and then get on a ferry. We also used to have Saturday morning cinema club where you would watch a few cartoons (spiderman etc) and then see a Disney feature, and I remember quite a few of them.
cant really remember but it was probably one of the Tarzan ones with Johnny Weismuller but in those days it was a double feature.
i think it was return of the jedi
1st I remember was 101 Dalmations - 1st ,where I was the eldest one, was 6 years later when I took my younger sister to see 'Jungle Book'

Why on Earth did I think B&B was set in Scotland?

I should add, when the animated section kicked in, I absolutely loved that film...

Hmmm...was it Bedknobs and Broomsticks that had the animal football match, or was that Mary Poppins???
^^^
Definitely B&B
