Anne, the "accepted wisdom" is to pick specialised subjects with a very limited range, or something pretty obscure. Mastermind used to use specialist question compilers, but now they just use an independent research company.

I would pick:

1) the music of Van der Graaf Generator
2) the plays of Moliere
3) the periodic table of elements
