afternoon all,
what a glorious day,
cast your mind back alllll those years ago to your first days at school..
were they nice memories for you?
i have a few nice memories ..... i remember the messy paint palets and brushes standing in jars in the middle of the tables... the smell of the polished wooden floors in the corridors.... the little picture name tag we hung on our coat peg in the cloakroom where we hung our pump bags up... the sound of the bell being rang at play time ... enjoying the (luke warm) milk we were given in a little bottle to drink through a straw every morning with a biscuit ... and being read a story by the teacher before putting our chairs up on the table when it was home time and then grabbing our satchel and doing a runner out the school gates .....
awwwwww those were the days......

hey yeah janet and john books! and do you remember the little red hen books too? and wasnt there a fox and a big truck that used to go over the hill with rattling pots and pans?? lol

(aww thank you for saying that den ...)
I remember the semolina and the mash potatoe they used to serve up with a big ice -cream scooper.
One of my memories is of the horid warm milk that you had to drink at break. put me off milk for years, even now I can only drink it ice cold.
I remember the Janet and John books, and the bottles of milk with a straw.
Wholeheartedly agree about the unchilled milk. It took me years before I could drink it again...
I remember a girl getting a bead stuck up her nose during story time, and a boy puking on his purple finger painting.. but not on the same day!
Me too about the milk, have only been able to drink it really cold ever since. Mind you it was OK in the winter when it had been outside all morning and I remember great excitement when Crusha first appeared and we were allowed to bring it in to school (I'm talking in the 60s)
I remember smoking behind the bike sheds....
in primary school, NoM???
you can still get the Janet & John books on Ebay.

I also could'nt drink the milk - they seem to leave it in the sun on purpose. I now can only drink milk if it is ice cold.
I think you have 24 hours..
I can't remember that far back, Sara...
↑ that may have been on the wrong thread, lol
maybe you were all too well behaved, NoM :o)
Warm school milk, big bottle green knickers with a pocket in them, and usually several pairs of them, belonging to girls who'd wet themselves, hung over the big metal fireguard in the classrom steaming away (yes we had open fires).
Being hauled up in front of assembly for getting caught running through the boys' lavatories for a dare..............I was always getting in trouble for accepting dares!
