species name indicating a creeping plant.R-p-a-s.This one has really got me stumped. Help please.

Repens indicates a creeper maybe you can work from there?

Reptans ..varieties of which are Ajuga reptans ,a ground cover creeper

Thanks pentalpha8 it seems to fit the bill.tho the word isnt in most dictionaries

You really need a botanical dictionary for a lot of these plant names and species .There are millions ,mostly Latin or Linnaean hence you don't find many in an ordinary Collins etc
You would find creeper and probably Ajuga. Wiki alone throws up 500 varieties of "reptans "on the first page alone !
