Where are they planning to shop. Most shops will start to do this soon, if they haven't already done so.
yer in nettos bags cost but I dont mind as my shopping only costs about 3.00 there lol
I like the 10p "for life" bags. I have four of them and they show no signs of being needed to be replaced yet.
my mum came across today ranting on that she was going to be charged 10p for a bag and wasnt going to shop there again, the lady let her have it for nothing this time, my mum is horrendous when it comes to the amount of carrier bags she takes and doesnt use,she would take a bag for a stamp when she can,i told her that this was the way it was going and she would be better of buying a a couple of reusable ones she wasnt a happy bunny!

Totally agree with the ban, if all shops do it, then people would have to find alternative bags!
years ago safeways used to have brown paper bags that were made from recycled paper .

this has been the norm in ireland for years now .
typical bloody britain wont change .

funny thing is years ago your granny had a wee string bag took all her shopping .
people didnt get plastic bags you tok your own .

lazy arses that the problem .
it sucks but its life... now were on some government legislated recycling drive... they removed all the bins in my office last week and replaced them with recycling points one in every office so i now have to walk all the way over the otherside of the room to chuck anything.
M&S gave me 10 of their bags for life for free just before they started charging for them so im using them for now. but they still have a little plastic bag which is free!!!
Agree that must people dont give a jot but if all the supermarkets did this maybe people would listen, i think its a habit with most people they expect free bags! I have to say to the assistant in some shops that dont put it in a bag i have my own they are condtioned also by the company to ask if you want a bag!
I have a 40p reusable bag from Morrisons and i've just bought the 99p cotton one from the co-op,I also use a shopping trolley like the little old ladies use(but mine is trendy). On the odd occasion I have to use plastic carrier bags they always get reused as bin liners.
You know, I wouldn't mind buying a bag for life but I refuse to buy one that has the shops name on it, I am not a walking billboard for them.

If anyone knows of a shop or website that has bags for life with some great designs printed, then I'll get one of those instead.
I remember my mum bringing her shopping home in cardboard boxes from the shop and making it into a car
instead of charging for thebag why don,t the supermarkets and bigger shops put a deposit on the bags which could be used on your next shop that way more will be re-used rather than just wasted and the 10p absorbed into the weekly shop these deposits couldthen be added to other re-usable things which are so often thrown out
Lakitu, Somerfield has bags for life that are sold in aid of cancer research. At least my local Somerfield is selling them, I don't know about nation wide.
Oh I didn't know that, I'll pop in by and have a look the next time I pass one. Thank you very much for telling me.

I like your name, did you think it was something that needed clarifying? LOL :)
These are great, Lakitu. They were featured on LK Today a while back...

Lakitu, thank you. My son was setting me up on answerbank and "not a fish" was just what I happened to be saying when he asked me what I wanted my AB name to be. I don't remember what I was talking about at the time. I want to change my name, so that I can deliberately choose one this time.
tesco give you clubcard points if you use your own carrier bags e.g the cloth ones
when i went to germany a couple of years back you could get some money back for taking your bottles back to the off licence... it was the same in australia.
That's exactly the type of thing I'm after whiskeysheri, you're a girl after my own heart.

I think it's a cute name, notafish, what would you change it to if you had the choice?
