In the welsh part of my family tree there is a a Philladelphia born in 1776. What puzzles me is it is a tiny village in the middle of nowhere so where would the name Philladelphia have come from? Obviously 1776 is a significant year but does anyone know anything about possible welsh emigration at that time - the name is so out of place there must be a reason for it but I can't fin it.

That's really interesting Spudqueen I'd assumed because of 1776 it was something to do with the Philadelphia in America but maybe it is just coincidence.
Yes, possibly coincidence, especially if other children in the family also have Biblical names.
