One night stands?

My sister is having a midlife crisis and has split from her bloke of 16 years. she is 38. She is hanging out with her students and generally being very inappropriate. On new years eve she took a stranger back to her house (alone) and had sex, and drove him home the next day. Naturally, he has ignored her texts. He said he has an OBE, is a heart surgeon of children and is 25. I smell a rat, but obviously haven't told her that! My question is... do people still have casual one night stands, just for sex's sake? Or are they secretly hoping it will lead to a new relationship? Would you?

Wouldnt know....ive never had one
If my teacher offered to take me to bed ? yes !
there's nothing inappropriate about her behaviour, it's her life and she needs to feel that she has lived it in the manner in which she wishes. If one night stands float her boat then fine, and yes they do still occur. I've had plenty previously to re-marrying and I don't feel they were inappropriate. I also knwe someone who ended up marrying a girl he'd just hada one night stand with. Depends on the connection you make really. Either is fine. Your sister is only 38, she's still a young woman, let her live a little.
I agree with nox.

Let her get on with it while she is still young & able!

Yes, I have had one night stands. Some I expected to turn into relationships (some did, some didn't) and some I knew and accepted would be one night only. That may sound like I have had a lot, but honestly I haven't. I was married at 20, divorced at 27 and met Mr P shortly after. So it was all before I was 20!

Wierdly enough I expected Mr P to be a one night stand but it didn't work out ;o)
People do have one night stands just for sex - m ore men than women I would have thought although I guess that's changing now.

Some people Im sure do have sex with someone and hope it leads to something more, depends on the individual of course.
I am not nedically qualified but I think it is a 7 year uni course just to get a qualification. That would make him 25 assuming he studied straight after A levels. Then paediatrics, surgeon and cardiac qualifications would probably be a minimum of three years EACH.

A rat, I smell a huge fkcu off elephant.
Ive had loads of one note stands...mainly coz Im cr@p at relationships
if she is enjoying her self, and no ones hurt........why not

sorry should have said yes....when alcohol was comsumed prior
ditto noxy

the only problem i see here is if she is believing what is clearly his lies and getting upset that he hasn't fallen head over heels in love with her.

i used to have a friend who shags everyone who asks - often more than one at a time!
and no matter what i said she still became devastated that they didn't want to start a relationship with her, when she believed that because they wanted to have sex with her must have meant they had feelings for her - she was 34!! you'd think she would have sussed that by now!

she believed she was demonstrating girl power and the sexual liberation of women in the new millenia - and that would have been true and admirable, had she been in control and knew her mind, but she would turn into a wreck - crying, stalking, being abusive etc.

if your friend is happy, let her have some fun, and don;t try to bring her down with accusations of 'innappropriate' behaviour

Interesting Joko. No, she does not take it personally- yet. She is still going out every night trying to find new ones. But I hope that it's not damaging her self esteem. I haven't accused her of "inappropriate behaviour", but the College have- she has had a disciplinary for socialising every night with her young students, which she has chosen to ignore.
I'm a singer and I am on tour about eight months per year. Once I toured for 13 months! It gets very lonely out there on tour and opportunities abound. I'm sorry to admit that I succumbed to the loneliness on two occasions and picked up guys for casual sex. I didn't even get their names.
I've had a couple. I had no expectations beyond that night.
