Out of interest, has anyone ever clicked on the sponsored link by Experian that offers to show you your credit record for free? Is there a catch, and was it helpful?

I have used this its really good and there is no catch, It just lets you see whats against your name and address that you have lived in, how much money you owe, how many missed payments you have ever made, and also bear in mind that if you have been refused credit Experian help you see which credit cards, etc that you have bot 'closed off' eg you may have had lots of credit cards and even though they no longer have a balance on them, they still pull your credit rating down, once I had my report I was able to go through and close down any old accounts I wasn't using, but please be aware that it also does family members that have lived in the same addresses as you ! Just bear that in mind x good luck x
its helpful but not overly so. they'll want your telephone number ;-)

just go to their website and get a full one sent to your home. i think its only a few pounds - it will make you cry though x

It would probably make me laugh like a drain. But then I 've got quite a sick sense of humour sometimes!
You should pay and get one sent to you!! I discovered that my wayward sister's bad credit info was ALL OVER my report!! So I had to go through and phone all the people and explain that it was not me and to take it off!! And they did. I also found that my previous bad neighbours were making my credit rating negative cos they never paid their bills. It is worth getting!!!
Mine is so bad it`s got extra pages stapled to it. lol
The free offer you mention with Experian is actually a 'free 30 day trail' for their full credit rating services. You have to sign up & pay about 40-50 but you can cancel within the 30 days to obtain a re-fund.

However, If you visit their site you can obtain your own credit report for a 2.00 fee.
