Just reading in the Express that Panama is the only country where you can see the sun rise in the Pacific and set in the Atlantic. Now maybe I'm being thick but surely it's the other way around. Can anyone explain this to me? thanks

The sun rises in the east in this case the pacific side and sets in the west, the atlantic side of that country

The Atlantic is to the East of Panama.
Sorry wrong way round

I thought I was going mad too. However, I checked on the map, and Panama tends to run left to right more than up and down. Strictly speaking, there is a bit of Panama where you can see the sun rise over the Pacific, and another bit where tou can see it set over the Atlantic. On the whole though, I'd say the information was misleading. Try checking the map.

Panama's two coastlines are referred to as the Caribbean (or Atlantic) and Pacific, rather than the north and south coasts. To the east is Colombia and to the west Costa Rica. Because of the location and contour of the country, directions expressed in terms of the compass are often surprising. For example, a transit of the Panama Canal from the Pacific to the Caribbean involves travel not to the east but to the northwest, and in Panama City the sunrise is to the east over the Pacific

I see thanks everyone.
So if you were in Coiba you could see the sun both rise and set over the Pacific, but if you were in Portobello you could see the sun rise & set over the Atlantic !!
