French for 'square root of 169'
Question Author
I've just discovered an area called the thirteen streets in Racine, Wisconsin
Is it me? The square root of 169 is 13, so the answer is TREIZE (French for thirteen). That was clearly the only answer that the setter could fit in - so had to word the clue in French ?

Sorry QM , I was mistranslating "carree" --- I had it in my head that it was a type of thoroughfare and not a "square of a number". Apologies !
No prob - perhaps you're thinking of 'calle' - Spanish for street.
