morning Trev xx I am always up and about twixt 3 and 4 am ! sleeping patterns would be ideal if I were a milkman ! lol

absolutely..although have not seen many of them in recent times either..strikes still seem to be randomly in operation ! see more of the AMAZON man these days !

Long gone are the days of two deliveries a day during the week

not sure they do Saturday either now ? unreliable these days I am afraid..I am still receiving Christmas Cards !!

I can remember my father working Christmas Day doing a delivery albeit many years ago.

Yes started as a telegram boy then spent 25 years with the Royal Mail

my goodness. Telegram boys ! had forgotten about them ! lol.. new technology has dismissed so many old traditions.. my postie in Norfolk was more like a social worker/delivery man/ agony uncle.. a lovely man that would often just stop in for a cup of tea .. being rural there were not many drop off points for his round and it became routine for him to leave stuff in my porch for later pick ups..could not carry a lot in a bag on a bike ! between him and the milkman all the elderly folks living alone had a lifeline... doubt I could tell you any postie's name these days

We never have the same person, seems to change weekly

it doesn't help that few houses in my road have a number on their doors... mail often goes astray or to the wrong places.. no consistency for anyone to remember names etc.. I always try and make a point of opening door if I see one approaching... a cold drink in the summer..use of loo.. and sweeties at Christmas ! lol...

Morning all. RM stopped delivering mail on Christmas Day in 1960, Scotland 1965.

Good thing, too. Who wants bills and bad news that day?

All manner of exciting things! I shall take a short flight in a microglider, go wild swimming in the river Tame, go fell running in Cumbria and spend the evening bat and badger watching with Bill Oddie.

Or maybe I'd best stay at home playing Cinderella in trousers. The only mountain I'll see today is the laundry, and that needs to be tackled by a real man. I suspect I'll be batty and badgered by evening

Morning all, a quiet day before working this evening. saw my youngest sister and her hubby for a pastie yesterday and the hair chopped.......otherwise tranquil times....
