The trouble is this instant news age doesn't help. I have no doubt you are constantly pressing "refresh" on the news sites looking for that area - but the constant button pressing is neither going to help them stay safe nor make good news come any faster.
It's a sh** situation for you too, but try not to get too worked up. You will think better if you stay calm.

I fully get you are worried, but try not to be. Being worried is not going to change things. Best you can do is what you are doing and try and keep in contact and also ask if there is anything you can do (I realise there is probably very little you can do, but contacting people on their behalf or passing news to them might be welcome).

Easy for me to say, I do not have close friends out there - but I'm just trying to be constructive.
