There is a nursery in Loch Ness where little Nessie's are cared for. I have photos...x
Question Author
Aww sweet little Nessies , Who’s their Daddy tho?
I won't believe in the return of wildlife until the haggis once again run free around the ben.
We'll not see free roamin' haggus (the official plural) til November at the latest.
Question Author
Douglas , what the But if the ben is a field?
but and ben
phrase of but
SCOTTISH
a two-roomed cottage; a humble home.

Just Ben

ben1
/bɛn/
nounSCOTTISH
(especially in place names) a high mountain or mountain peak.
The ben is a mountain, like Nevis.

But and ben is a two roomed cottage, the ben part being the living room, the but usually the entrance door and kitchen, apparently.
Many modern 'luxury' home builders have adopted the idea.
That's why the Haggus have legs shorter on one side, to facilitate running round a high peak.
Now alba, as a devotee of the late lamented Haggis Hunt that used to run in The Scotsman online I must insist the the plural is 'haggi'.

Leaving all that aside, where were you on Friday? I waited ages.
Question Author
So all them Broons lived at a two roomed cottage ?
Where on Earth did Horace, Daphne,Maggie, the twins, and the bairn Sleep?
Almost right, Mamyalynne. The have three legs, two long and one short, this is why they always run in the same direction round the hillside.

No reverse gear.
The young ones slept out on the heather allowing those of more mature years the luxury of a roof.
Alba goes to the bingo on a Friday .
It was just a brief sighting, my mistake.

I believe the 'But 'n' Ben' was The Broons holiday cottage,, their home was a tenement flat.
Question Author
Tsk tsk and Grandpaw? Putting him oot at night? Shameful , should be reported
I should add that the but and ben was their holiday retreat not their home, some were left behind in Glebe Street.
lol, they'd closed the services at Broxburn :-))
Question Author
Aww I knew that Douglas :0(
Bobbi, what they didn't draw was the basement and the attic of their but and ben.

Anyhoo, how's the wee dock and doris? anyone know?
Now, you see the importance of detail.

It was Broxden!
