I have been giving for a few months then stopped like for no reason.

But one thing did catch my eye that when I looked into the store it was groaning with tins of stuff. Do they use all this stuff.

I know they like to get bottled water so I'll get that, but what important things I should get.

Last time I did get beans, baby wipes and others.

As I say what would be the most important necessity on the street. This would be a question for Nailit.

As it’s a question for nailit does that mean no one else can answer?
Ring them and ask JJ. You don’t want to give them supplies that already have an over abundance of.

oh no - just thought nailit would know the exact things that the homeless would really like since he works there

all answers very welcome.

Rocky - they only have personal mobs and I don't know them. I could call in but then I need to have to go back over town again pick the stuff up and call back again.
I once saw, in a benefits office, a homeless wallchart - I wondered where they would put it - maybe on the wall of their railway arch.....
Nailit works at a food bank I don’t think food bank is for the homeless as you have to be referred to get the help.
So do you want to help the homeless or the food banks?
Are you donating to a foodbank JJ or is it a collection for homeless people.

This 'bank' I go to give out the parcels to the homeless but they also cook a hot dinner for them every night in Belfast.

I googled homeless necessities and have got a few ideas.

Sometimes if I see homeless person I speak to them and ask would they like anything and if I can get it I will
In that case, maybe a packet of socks and some of those cereal bars.
I am dubious about giving money to "homeless" people, some are obviously in need, some are just spammers earning a good living tax free living.
There's a girl who begs in the street in our town, she uses a wheelchair and makes lots of money, but it is known she lives at home with her Mum.

Its always best to give to a charity who provide food or services rather than give money direct.
Jenny, RR is right, I work for the Foodbank, not with the homeless as such but we do have ties with a local church who feed the homeless and give out neccesities etc (we deliver our out of date food to them, most of which is still useable).
They are ALWAYS asking for things like womens sanitary products, deoderants, tooth paste/brushes etc.

Take a look at the first minute of this video. It looks like a lot of food but all that would be given out within a couple of weeks or so.

If i was homeless... things i would want:

Cigarettes
Wet wipes
socks
socks
socks
more socks.

thanks Nailit for that link. I will get some of the products you mention.

I do know foodbanks just love to get water as well so I'll make a parcel within a few days.
thanks again. PS the link was helpful.
I don't give water. Anyone can get that from a tap, even the homeless.
Question Author
I know you can get water from the taps, but when you are lying in a porchway of some shop perhaps they can't access water at 4.00 in the morning.
LB, that assumes that they have access to a tap.
If I were homeless on the streets I would get a plastic bottle and fill it up before nightfall when plenty of places are open to do so. Not wait until the middle of the night.
Question Author
that's right LB when your mind is good and you can forward think.

do know the bank really want the water
JJ just my opinion of course but to me bottled water is a luxury. I use tap water, bottle it and put it in the fridge.
